En las grandes capitales culturales del mundo, el circuito de galerías es vital para el desarrollo de la escena artística. No solo son espacios donde los coleccionistas —los habituales, pero también los que se inician en esa pasión— entran en contacto con artistas y obras; también son importantes centros donde se concentra parte de la producción, así como la construcción de conocimiento sobre arte contemporáneo, gracias a sus programas de exposiciones. Las galerías impulsan la carrera de artistas en acenso y difunden en el mundo su obra.

Como reconocimiento a su importancia y para dar visibilidad a las propuestas de las galerías de arte contemporáneo en la Ciudad de México, cada año se lleva a cabo —así como en Berlín, Barcelona, Ámsterdam y Buenos Aires, entre otras— Gallery Weekend Ciudad de México (GWCDMX) que este año tendrá lugar del 5 al 8 de septiembre.

En esta, su séptima edición, GWCDMX contará con la participación de galerías y espacios independientes que, por medio de un amplio programa, invitarán al público a conocer de primera mano los procesos creativos y curatoriales detrás de cada muestra, a la vez que presenta una forma diferente de relacionarse con la ciudad, en la que el arte es su principal motivo.

Gallery Weekend CDMX 2019: Meet the participating galleries

In the cultural capitals of the world, the circuit of galleries is vital for the development of their artistic scene. Galleries are not only spaces where the collectors —regulars, but also those who are initiated in that passion— get in touch with artists and works; they are also important centers where part of the production is concentrated, as well as the construction of knowledge about contemporary art, thanks to their exhibition programs. Galleries also promote the career of emerging artists and spread their artwork around the world. 

In recognition of their importance and to give visibility to the proposals of contemporary art galleries in Mexico City, every year it takes place —as well as in Berlin, Barcelona, ​​Amsterdam and Buenos Aires, among others— Gallery Weekend Mexico City (GWCDMX), this year being held from September the 5^th to 8^th.

In this seventh edition, GWCDMX will have the participation of galleries and independent spaces, which through an extensive program will invite the audience to know the creative and curatorial processes behind each exhibition by first-hand, while presenting a different way of relating to the city, taking art as its main motive.
